Ecommerce Mobile App Design

Designing a Smarter Way to Exchange Outdoor Gear.

The challenge with the GearSwap concept was building trust and simplicity in a space where generic marketplaces often fall short. I designed a platform that puts the community first, blending user-centered features with an outdoors-inspired identity.

Project Overview

I created GearSwap as a concept platform to solve a familiar problem in the outdoor community: when one adventurer upgrades their gear, another is searching for that exact item—yet traditional marketplaces don’t meet their needs. GearSwap set out to bridge that gap with a user-friendly, community-driven exchange for quality used equipment.

The Challenge

Most secondhand marketplaces are too generic to handle the nuances of outdoor gear, while specialty retailers focus only on new products. The challenge was to design a platform that feels trustworthy, intuitive, and tailored to outdoor enthusiasts’ real-world needs.

The Approach

I began with research, creating detailed user personas and journey maps to uncover common frustrations. Buyers and sellers wanted security, fair negotiation, and an interface designed for their specific equipment.

With those insights, I mapped user flows for critical scenarios like making a first-time purchase or negotiating a sale. This guided the wireframing and prototyping process, ensuring the platform stayed simple yet powerful where it mattered most.

The Result

The final GearSwap concept translated community insights into a platform that feels both intuitive and trustworthy. A streamlined interface, thoughtful user flows, and the unique negotiation feature gave buyers and sellers the confidence to connect. The clean visual identity tied it all together, creating an experience that balances functionality with the spirit of outdoor adventure.
